Topic: Sexual battery - Sufficiency of evidence

Summary of the Facts: Rashad Quarles was found guilty of attempted sexual battery of a female minor. He was sentenced to ten years. He appeals.

Summary of Opinion Analysis: Quarles argues that the State failed to prove that he had attempted to sexually penetrate the victim, because he abandoned his attempt. There was sufficient testimony from the victim and a witness for the jury to find that Quarles did attempt to engage in sexual battery, either through his attempts at oral sex or his failed attempt at sexual penetration.
