Topic: Post-conviction relief - Ineffective assistance of counsel - Illegal sentence

Summary of the Facts: Nathaniel Sibley pled guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison with all but forty years suspended. He filed a petition for post-conviction relief which the court denied. He appeals.

Summary of Opinion Analysis: Sibley argues that he was denied effective assistance of counsel but does not explicitly state why the counsel he received was ineffective. Before accepting Sibley's guilty plea, the judge asked Sibley if he was satisfied with his counsel and Sibley indicated he was. Sibley also argues that he was given an illegal sentence. However, he received a more lenient sentence than required under the statute.
